The Rainforest Ride is a mass participation road cycling event with four different rides to suit all types of cyclists, from a challenging 140km circuit to a tranquil 23km journey, all amidst the magnificent Otway Rainforest in & around Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road.
Cycle for a Cure, support the Burnet Institute
The Ride is designed to provide something for all levels of rider, from ‘Beach Road speedsters’ who can tackle the challenging 140km Rainforest Circuit, to kids and their parents who can share a ride and walk in the rainforest with the 23km Waterfall Explorer. All rides are set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery around and take place along quiet sealed roads in the countryside.
70km Lighthouse Discovery Ride
This intermediate level ride takes participants along the Great Ocean Road & Otway Lighthouse Road that both pass through stunning rainforest, country fields and magnificent coastal scenery to the majestic Cape Otway Lightstation where you can be wowed by the incredible cliff top views.
The course is an out-and-back ride: 35km each way from the start at Apollo Bay to Cape Otway Lightstation and back. The entry fee includes free entry to the Lightstation’s lovely grassy grounds and historic building precinct that provide endless views along the coast and towards Tasmania. There will also be a range of food, drinks and information here for you to fill up on.
The Rainforest Ride event is being conducted for charity with all participants encouraged to raise funds for the Burnet Institute to help us fight the world’s worst infectious diseases: HIV, TB and malaria – The Big Three.
