Lightkeeper's Shipwreck Discovery Tour

Lightkeeper's Shipwreck Discovery Tour Package

OUR Lightkeeper's Shipwreck Discovery Tour Package takes tourists off the beaten track and immerses them in the natural & man-made history of the Cape before enjoying lunch or morning/afternoon tea.

We visit the Parker River inlet, the original difficult landing point for infrequent lighthouse supplies.

A highlight is Blanket Bay where the stone chimney ruins of a lighthouse storage shed stand just above the beach, and you can see the disappearing timbers of a jetty built to service the Lightstation.

The Cape's tides and sands regularly reveal the ribs and an anchor of the wrecked vessel Eric the Red, which is a focal point for stories of the hundreds of lives and dozens of ships lost in the treacherous Bass Strait and Southern Ocean.

After lunch or scones, jam, cream and a pot of tea or coffee back at the Lightkeeper's Café, the tour continues in the Lightstation grounds - including a climb to the top of the 1848 lighthouse, the Telegraph Station and World War Two Radar Bunker.

This is a perfect excursion for keen photographers, those who love an off-road adventure, and history buffs who want an appreciation of the logistical nightmares early lightkeepers faced.

Tour packages are run 10am-12pm & 2pm-4pm, seven days a week.
