Press Release: Halloween Party at Cape Otway Lightstation

Issued: 28 October 2006

CAPE Otway Lightstation and its resident ghosts are hosting their very own Halloween Party on Tuesday, October 31, which is free to kids dressed to thrill or scare.

The historic Lightstation’s most prominent ghost is the Lady in Grey, who is often seen or sensed by tourists staying in the lightkeeper’s quarters.

And she’s bound to enter into the true spirit of Halloween.

The Lady in Grey has a prominent sense of mischief and fun, and certainly isn’t shy.

Lightstation manager Paul Thompson said the naughty Mrs Riches is a real trickster who seems to get a kick out of ringing the Lightstation’s phones in the middle of the night and turning up visitors’ electric blankets.

There is also a resident ghost in the old Telegraph Station, who might just put in an appearance for Halloween.

The Lightstation’s KIDZONE @ The Cape will host the Halloween Party from 4:30pm to 6:30pm with lots of fun and games for little tricksters.

Kids who prefer the treat side of Halloween are invited to a sausage sizzle and an afternoon of fun activities in the grounds of Australia’s most significant lighthouse.

There will be games and prizes for the spookiest, ugliest, fairest and sweetest.

So while the little devils in your life are spooking it up for Halloween, enjoy the good food and coffee in the Lightkeeper’s CafĂ©.
