Press Release: Vintage cars visit Cape Otway
Issued: 22 May 2007
A GROUP of vintage car owners became celebrities for a few minutes at Cape Otway on Tuesday when tourists lined up to take photographs of the owners with their gleaming machines in front of the lighthouse.
Some of the cars appeared to be little more than how they were first described – a horseless carriage.
The Federation 2007 Tour of Veteran Vintage Classic Vehicle Clubs set out from Geelong with an impressive 124 cars from an incredibly diverse range of styles.
Quite a few of the car owners called into Cape Otway Lightstation on Tuesday morning and enjoyed the attentions of fellow tourists.
The oldest car on the tour is a 1911 FN (correct), and the latest was manufactured in 1960.
